Tennis balls are fluorescent yellow in colour. The international tennis federation has set the diameter as 6.54 cm to 6.86 cm. The ball should weigh between 56 grams to 59.4 grams. As a result, the manufacturing process is quite standardized.

What Is Tennis Ball Made Of?

Primarily we use rubber to make tennis balls. The next step is to fill the rubber ball with pressurized gas. However, we use nylon or wool to cover the rubber ball. It is easy for us to judge the quality of the ball.

How Are Tennis Balls Made?

The manufacturing process of tennis balls is straightforward. The first step is to mold the rubber into a spherical shape. Then we press them against each other to form a rubber ball. To make the ball bounce, we add pressurized gas into the ball. Then we cover the ball with yellow felt using glue. In the end, we need to heat the ball to let the glue do its work.

We can use materials such as Nylon, Natural Gut, Polyester, and Kevlar to make tennis racket strings. We will now see each material in detail.

Nylon

Nylon is one of the materials used to make tennis racket strings. We can use different grades of nylon to make tennis racket’s strings. Today, a lot of players use Nylon multifilament as it provides better grip and power. Nylon is an excellent choice to make a tennis-racket string.

Natural Gut

We consider the natural gut as one of the best materials to make tennis racket strings. It provides you with the best feel and power. However, it is very costly, and therefore, people do not use natural gut.

Tennis Racket Strings: Polyester

Polyester is an excellent choice for tennis racket’s strings. It has the best durability compared to other materials. Polyester will also provide you with significant control of the racket and the ball. Using polyester can be useful as we can use it to spin the ball and change its direction. If you are starting your tennis journey, then this is a great option to choose as your tennis racket string.

Kevlar:

As its name suggests, the Kevlar strings are too robust. Therefore, we usually combine Kevlar and nylon to lower the stiffness. Kevlar strings are not the right choice as they do not give enough power. Consequently, it is challenging to play using Kevlar as our tennis racket string.

Main Requirements Of Any Tennis Racket Strings:

In any tennis racket string, we need tension, power, and control. Low string tension means you will get more power, and high string tension will give you better control. Therefore, maintaining proper tension in the tennis racket string is crucial. The choice of the amount of tension depends upon the players and their playing style.
